Klay Thompson might be the most famous member of his family, but he is far from the only athlete.

The Warriors four-time NBA champion has had an incredibly successful NBA career, one that he has credited his family — and brothers, in particular — for getting him to where he is.

During his speech at Golden State's championship parade in 2015, Thompson gave his brothers a shoutout. "Without them, I wouldn't be the player I am, playing against them every day one-on-one."

Both of Klay's brothers played sports at a professional level. His father, Mychal, has ties to the Lakers, winning two NBA championships in Los Angeles. His mother was also a college athlete.

To learn more about the Thompson's family of athletes, The Sporting News has you covered below.

Klay Thompson's father: Mychal Thompson

Mychal's name should ring a bell because he is a two-time NBA champion for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Unlike Klay, Mychal was a 6-10 big man. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft out of Minnesota. Mychal played eight seasons in Portland, averaging 16.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

He was traded by the Trail Blazers to the San Antonio Spurs in the 1986 offseason, then traded again from San Antonio to Los Angeles at the 1986-87 deadline.

Mychal went on to help the Lakers win the 1987 and 1988 NBA Finals. He retired after 12 years in the NBA.

He is still a radio personality in Los Angeles covering the Lakers.

Klay Thompson's mother: Julie Thompson

Julie was a college volleyball star at the University of Portland, where she met her husband, Mychal. She transferred to the University of San Francisco, where she continued her collegiate volleyball career.

The Thompson family's athletic genes go beyond their 6-10, NBA champion father.

Klay Thompson's older brother: Mychel Thompson

Klay's oldest brother, Mychel, played four years of college basketball at Pepperdine. He averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game over four seasons.

Mychel went undrafted in 2011 but immediately began his D-League career. He played five seasons in the D-League and even appeared in five games for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011-12, scoring a career-high eight points in a game against the Celtics.

Mychel made the 2012 D-League All-Rookie Second Team and earned a 2015 D-League championship with the Santa Cruz Warriors — Golden State's affiliate squad.

For a moment, he and Seth Curry were teammates with Santa Cruz, forming "The Splash Brothers" of the D-League.

Klay Thompson's younger brother: Trayce Thompson

Trayce is currently an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The youngest Thompson brother was committed to play college baseball at UCLA but he altered his plans when he had the opportunity to turn pro.

Trayce was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the second round (61st overall) of the 2009 MLB Draft. For the baseball fans out there, he was two picks after future superstar third basemen Nolan Arenado!

He made his MLB debut for the White Sox in 2015 and has bounced around since. Trayce has made stops with the Oakland Athletics, White Sox (again), Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Dodgers.

He got out to a red-hot start to the 2023 MLB season, hitting two home runs (including one grand slam!) in the Dodgers' season opener. He became the first player in MLB history to drive in eight runs in a season debut.
