The Clippers have made a big step to ensure Kawhi Leonard will be a part of the franchise's future.
On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Clippers announced that it reached an agreement on a contract extension with Leonard, who joined the franchise as a free agent in 2019.
Before his signing, there was speculation about Leonard's future as he had a player option for the 2024-25 season and could have become an unrestricted free agent. According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Leonard needed to decline his player option for the 2024-25 season to sign an extension with the Clippers.
Leonard has now committed to the Clippers through the 2026-27 season, a major development as the team is set to move into its venue, the Intuit Dome, beginning in the 2024-25 season.
