Giannis Antetokounmpo brothers take spotlight for Greece national team: Breaking down games for Thanasis and Kostas at EuroBasket 2022 image

When the Greece Men's National Basketball team gets underway at the FIBA EuroBasket 2022, they'll roll out a roster with seven players that have NBA experience, including three members of the Antetokounmpo family.

Of course, there's Giannis, the two-time league MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year, one-time NBA champion and one-time Finals MVP, but he will be joined by his brothers Thansis and Kostas, who have carved paths of their own during their respective professional careers.

While Thanasis is set to head into his fourth season with the Bucks and Kostas spent time with the Mavericks and Lakers franchises, their limited roles on the NBA stage mean fans are largely unfamiliar with their games, which are quite different on the international stage.

What can you expect from the Antetokounmpo trio at EuroBasket? Here is a breakdown of what the lesser-known Antetokounmpos bring to the table.

EuroBasket 2022: Breaking down games of Thanasis and Kostas Antetokounmpo

Thanasis Antetokounmpo

The eldest of the basketball players in the family, Thanasis, 30, is also the shortest of the bunch, measuring in at 6-foot-6.

A bouncy athlete and tenacious defender, Thanasis uses his 7-foot wingspan to cause disruption on the defensive end.

Over three seasons with Milwaukee, he's appeared in 125 games (11 starts), averaging 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds on an efficient 51.4 percent shooting.

With Greece, Thanasis takes on a slightly larger offensive role, recently scoring 12 points (on 5-of-8 shooting) to go along with five rebounds in a FIBA World Cup Qualifier against Serbia.

Thanasis is a streaky — but capable — shooter who uses his athleticism to slash and clean up the offensive glass to manufacture offense.

Kostas Antetokounmpo

Kostas, 24, is the second youngest in the family, but already has three years of NBA service and an NBA title to his name.

At 6-foot-10 and 200 pounds, Kostas' wiry frame resembles that of Giannis during the early stages of his NBA career. Kostas is a raw talent and has appeared in just 22 NBA games while on two-way contracts with the Mavericks and Lakers.

Kostas returned to Europe for the 2021-22 season, which he spent with French club ASVEL. Over 26 EuroLeague games (three starts), he averaged 5.8 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 70.0 percent from the field.

It's fair to say that Kostas is still putting the pieces together, but he has the tools to be an impactful player, especially on the international stage. He recently turned in a 19-point performance against Turkey, including a sequence that slightly resembles something you would see from Giannis.
