The FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2019, held at Sree Kanteerva Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru, Team India had a huge task on their hands in their return to Division A.
The team improved their performance each game but finished the group stage winless and in the last spot in Group A with three points.

On Day 4 of the tournament, they were poised for a clash for the 7th spot with the Philippines, a team that finished last with three points in Group B.
The contest had huge ramifications as the team that finishes on the losing side would get relegated to Division B.
India came out with their best performance of the tournament but it wasn't enough, as they lost 78-92.

With the loss, Indian finished last among the eight teams in Division A, resulting in a relegation back to Division B.
Shireen Limaye was the Team India's best player with tournament averages of 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
