Just over a week after the FIBA Asia held its General Assembly on Jul. 15, the regional body announced a couple of key changes to its calendar.
The Assembly, attended by 26 of the 44 national federations, was chaired by FIBA Asia President Sheikh Saud Ali Ali Thani, with FIBA Secretary General Mr. Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Treasurer Ingo Weiss, FIBA Executive Director Asia Mr. Hagop Khajirian.
One of the key announcements was the rescheduling of the Men's 2021 FIBA Asia Cup.

The Men's 2021 FIBA Asia Cup will still be held in Jakarta, Indonesia as previously announced, however, it will now be conducted in July of 2022 right after the window for the 2024 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asia Qualifiers.
Prior to the postponement, the Asia Cup was going to be conducted from Aug. 17-29. Despite the postponement, the Qualifying Tournament will remain in 2021.
As per the FIBA release, the remaining three nations to qualify for the 16-team Asia Cup will be decided via two Qualifying Tournaments in the second half of August 2021. The exact dates and hosts have not been announced yet.

India is one of the five third-ranked teams that will battle in the Qualifying Tournament to qualify for their 10th straight appearance at the competition.
Another key announcement of the release was the change of hosts for the Women's Asia Cup. Originally, India was set to host the Continental tournament from Sep. 26 to Oct. 3 but that has been changed to Amman, Jordan from Sep. 27 to Oct. 3.
Division B of the Women's Asia Cup will also take place in Amman, Jordan but from Nov. 7 -13.
