In the offseason, NBA players spend their time in various ways.

While the main focus is often to rest and rejuvenate their bodies after a gruelling season, players also train to work on their game, make appearances in the community and also make trips to see other parts of the world.

In years past, a number of players have travelled to India for various reasons. From Kevin Garnett to Kevin Durant, take a look back at some of the most notable visits…

Kevin Garnett: - October 2006 - In the midst of an Adidas promotion trip to Delhi and Bangalore in India, Kevin Garnett visited the Taj Mahal in 2006, leading up to his final season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Dominque Wilkins, Sam Perkins, Ronny Turiaf, Kyle Korver, Pat Garrity, Linton Johnson: July 2008 - The six-man player team was in New Delhi for the Basketball Without Border Asia Camp

The group also visited the Taj Mahal while Korver began his journey in Kolkata, where he took part in charity work left behind by Mother Teresa. 

Baron Davis: July 2009 - Then, a member of the LA Clippers, Davis visited India to tip-off an NBA Jam event at a mall in Mumbai. 

Dwight Howard: August 2010 - The two-time reigning DPOY, back then, was a part of a promotional trip to India. He took part in various fan events, visited a zoo and held a clinic with the Indian national team in Bangalore. 

Pau Gasol: August 2010 - Pau Gasol traveled to India within a month of Howard leaving. He visited Mumbai and New Delhi, taking part in NBA Cares programmes and holding clinics

Steve Smith: September 2011 - Working with NBA TV, Steve Smith came down to India to inaugurate the NBA Jam and spend time working with India's U16 squad. 

Raja Bell: July 2012 - Bell trained with the Indian national team and participated in multiple fan and basketball development programmes in New Delhi.

Robert Horry: September 2012 - "Big Shot Bob" was in the Delhi NCR regions to launch NBA's 3x3 tournaments in Mumbai. 

Chris Bosh: July 2013


After winning his second NBA Championship with the Miami Heat in 2013, Chris Bosh announced new season of NBA Jam, held development camps, visited schools and colleges, took part in charity event and visited the Taj Mahal. 

Horace Grant, Ron Harper, Peja Stojakovic: September 2013 - While Grant was in New Delhi as well, all three former Champions were in Mumbai for the NBA Jam Finals.
