NBA Draft 2020: Golden State Warriors select James Wiseman with No. 2 overall pick image

The Golden State Warriors have selected James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Wiseman, a 7-foot-1 centre from the University of Memphis, appeared in just three games during his freshman season due to issues surrounding his eligibility but was nothing short of impressive, posting averages of 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game while shooting 76.9% from the field.

A native of Nashville, TN, Wiseman ultimately elected to withdraw from the school to declare for the NBA Draft in Dec., 2019.

Wiseman joins a Warriors team that finished 15-50 in a season where two-time MVP Stephen Curry appeared in just five games while Klay Thompson missed the entirety of the season while rehabbing a torn ACL.

The big man is expected to help this Golden State team return to prominence in the Western Conference after missing the playoffs in 2020. His size, rebounding and instincts as a rim protector answer a number of needs for this Warriors team.
