However, after the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Party lost the state elections to the Congress Party in December, the new government is reportedly not keen on hosting the Formula E race. In a statement, the organisation said,
The cancellation comes following a decision by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department (MAUD), under the control of the Government of Telangana, not to fulfil the Host City Agreement signed on 30 October 2023.
Chief Championship Officer of Formula E, Alberto Longo, expressed disappointment on behalf of the organisers and for the fans on motorsport in India. It remains to be seen whether the race, which was scheduled for February 10, will now be held elsewhere.
