The ultimate card for gold and bragging rights takes place on July 29, as Bellator MMA and RIZIN team up again for what is sure to be a dynamic event.
Bellator MMA x RIZIN 2 takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan and airs on Showtime in the U.S.
The main event will be a quarter-final bout in the Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix, with Bellator's Patricky Freire facing RIZIN's Roberto de Souza. Patricky is 17-10 with Bellator since joining the promotion in 2011. The 37-year-old won the Bellator lightweight title in 2021 against Peter Queally but lost it in his last bout in November against Usman Nurmagomedov.

de Souza made his pro debut in 2013. Joining RIZIN in 2019, de Souza was on a five fight win streak before losing to McKee at the first Bellator x RIZIN event in December. He rebounded in May, beating Spike Carlyle via unanimous decision at RIZIN 42. The 33-year-old won the RIZIN lightweight title in 2021, beating Tofiq Musayev via submission.
He replaces A.J. McKee, who backed out due to injury.
The co-main event will see the crowning of the first Bellator flyweight champion, as Kyoji Horiguchi faces Makoto Shinryu. Horiguchi is a former RIZIN bantamweight champion and has fought for Bellator gold before. Shinryu, born in 2000, is on a 10-fight win streak.
