Aaron Boone's frustration with the Yankees' disappointing 2023 season once again boiled over on Monday as he got himself ejected from their 5-1 loss to the White Sox.
Boone took issue with home plate umpire Laz Diaz's strike zone during the defeat and decided that he had enough of it in the eighth inning.
At that point, Boone came out of the dugout and walked up to Diaz at home plate. He began barking at the veteran umpire before drawing a line of demarcation in the dirt alongside home plate to show where he believed the pitches Diaz called strikes had been located.

Boone had already been tossed from the contest, but he didn't leave before exchanging words with Diaz.
"You f—ing stink," Boone was heard yelling on the broadcast, per the New York Post. He later appeared to add, "I hear about it every f—ing day. You’re s—."
It's about time someone gave it to Laz.

It wasn't just verbal insults that Boone hurled at Diaz. He also mocked the umpire by mimicking his strike-three call during his tantrum.

Eventually, the manager was restrained by bench coach Carlos Mendoza and the other umpires before being escorted off the field.
In fairness, to Boone, Diaz did miss quite a few calls, and they seemed to disproportionately impact the Yankees in what was then a close 2-1 game. Still, it is hardly his first run-in with MLB umpires this season.

Boone has now been ejected from six of the 103 games that the Yankees have played in 2023 to date. That's good for an ejection every 17.2 games and puts him on pace to be ejected at least nine times for the season. That would match his league-leading total from 2023.
While Boone's fiery tirades make for appointment viewing, they haven't helped rally the Yankees. The team dropped to 3-3 in games during which he is ejected with Monday's loss and is only 3-2 in games following a Boone ejection.
As such, Boone may want to try finding a new way to motivate his team, which currently sits in the AL East basement with a record of 58-55. At 5.5 games off the wild-card pace, he is running out of time to do that.
