“We would like to thank Ryan for his time and commitment to the Timberwolves organization and wish him the best in the future,” President of basketball operations Gersson Rosas said in a statement.
“These are difficult decisions to make, however this change is in the best interest of the organization’s short and long-term goals.”
Rosas and Finch previously worked together with the Houston Rockets, with Finch serving as the Rockets' G League head coach while Rosas was an executive in Houston.
The Timberwolves have struggled to start the 2020-21 season, with a league-worst 7-24 record, including losing eight of their past nine games.
In two-plus seasons at the helm in Minnesota, Saunders held a 43-95 record.
