The Minnesota Timberwolves have endured a tough time of late, but they found some success on Monday when they outlasted a gallant Oklahoma City Thunder.

Travelling into Oklahoma, the Wolves managed to snap a two-game losing-streak and win only their second game from their past eight outings.

The game swung back and forth like a pendulum in the first half as the Wolves a 10-point lead after the first, only to find themselves down 10 at the half.

In the third they pulled back and regained the lead thanks to an almighty defensive showing as they limited the Thunder to only 17 points in the term.

Entering the final quarter only six-points separated the two and the Thunder, behind Paul George and Russell Westbrook, came roaring back to life.

The game went right down to the wire, but a late heave from George missed and the Wolves escaped with the 114-112 victory.

Andrew Wiggins led from the front for his side as he ended with a season-high 30 points, six rebounds and five assists.

But it was George and Westbrook who filled up the boxscore as the duo combined for 54 points, 22 rebounds and 13 assists.

Westbrook once again recorded a triple-double, making it nine so far this season.

The win for the Wolves pushes their record to 15-18 on the season, while for the Thunder they go to 22-10.

Minnesota will have a few days rest before a meeting against the Chicago Bulls. The Thunder have one day off before a Christmas Day showdown against the Houston Rockets.
