Free agency is underway and the reports are flying around already.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Miami Heat and five-time All-Star Jimmy Butler are expected to agree upon a four-year maximum contract extension when first eligible on Friday, Aug. 6.
As Charania reported, the deal is expected to be worth $184 million.

Butler has been stellar in Miami, averaging 20.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game over two seasons. He led the Heat on a spirited run to the NBA Finals in 2020, averaging 26.2 points, 9.8 assists, 8.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game in the championship round.
In the team's two victories on the Finals stage, Butler recorded a 40-point triple-double and 35-point triple-double.
Butler was an All-Star and All-NBA Third Team selection in 2019-20, then led the NBA in steals while earning All-Defence Second Team and All-NBA Third Team honours in 2020-21.
