Report: Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo to undergo surgery on his right hand image

It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers will be without Rajon Rondo for quite some time.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the veteran is expected to undergo surgery on his right hand, sidelining him for a month.

Rondo injured his hand in the Lakers' 127-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. He was instrumental in Los Angeles holding onto the win without LeBron James, as he scored 13 points and dished out five assists in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Prior to the Lakers' loss to the Sacramento Kings on Friday, head coach Luke Walton said they were taking Rondo's injury "day by day."

"It all depends on how he can handle that pain," Walton told ESPN. "So we're kind of just taking it day by day right now to see where he wants to go with it, see how bad that hand is hurting. But he could be out for a while or he could be out for a couple days. It all just depends."

Rondo is averaging 8.4 points, 6.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game for the Lakers this season.
