Fresh off of winning the first NBA title of his career, Los Angeles Lakers All-NBA forward Anthony Davis is set to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, as he has reportedly declined his player option for the 2020-21 season.

While nearly all signs indicate that Davis will remain in Los Angeles, it isn't a foregone conclusion until he signs the dotted line.

With that in mind, the Lakers have reportedly made a big move to bolster their championship roster in an effort to help make that decision much easier, making a deal that would send Sixth Man of the Year runner up Dennis Schröder to LA in exchange for Danny Green and the No. 28 pick in the upcoming draft.

Davis recently joined "Posted Up" with Yahoo's Chris Haynes, where he doubled down on his status as a free agent, briefly discussed his impending free agency and spoke on the Lakers move to acquire Schröder.

"It's a great pick up," Davis told Haynes. "With Schröder alongside LeBron and the other guys, if they decide to opt-in or whatever but I think it was a good pick up.

"(He) can easily win Sixth Man of the Year, played great alongside CP and Shai and I think that he's tough, he shot the ball well this year, he can get in the paint, he can find guys and he's very very scrappy. I think it was a good pick up for the Los Angeles Lakers."

Davis, who almost jokingly told Haynes "I don't have a team," when first asked about the defending champs' move, made sure to avoid using "we" or "us" when talking about the Lakers but it's no secret that he is impressed by Schröder, who averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds over 65 regular-season games with OKC.

Much of what Davis spoke of in his assessment of Schröder's game were reasons outlined by NBA.com's Scott Rafferty as why the German point guard makes the Lakers an even scarier team.

While it may not last very long, Davis' free agency is nearing and many teams will likely do their due diligence in reaching out to the seven-time All-Star. The free agency period begins on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. (ET).
