The LA Clippers are in "serious talks" to hire Brian Shaw as an assistant coach on Tyronn Lue's staff, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The No. 24 pick in the 1988 NBA Draft, Shaw played 14 seasons in the NBA, making the All-Rookie Second Team (1989) and winning three championships (2000, 2001, 2002).

Since retiring in 2003, Shaw has spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers as an assistant coach and/or associate head coach. He also replaced George Karl as head coach of the Denver Nuggets in 2013, lasting two seasons with the franchise.

Shaw won an additional two championships as an assistant coach on the Lakers (2009, 2010).

Most recently, Shaw was the head coach of the NBA G League Ignite, where he coached Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga, both of whom are projected to be selected in the 2021 NBA Draft lottery.

Shaw and Lue were teammates together on the Lakers for two seasons, each of which ended with an NBA title.
