Which Cities will host the IPL 2025 mega-auction?

Although the exact city has yet to be confirmed, the Crizbuzz report further claims that Riyadh and Jeddah are the leading contenders to host the two-day event.

As per the latest reports, BCCI is also exploring Singapore as a possible site for the the auction. BCCI and IPL officials are thought to be evaluating their choices.

What challenges is the BCCI facing in securing a venue?

Cricbuzz reports that the BCCI is encountering difficulties in finding a suitable location and hotel accommodations.

Even though the financial capabilities of the IPL franchise owners and the BCCI—one of the wealthiest sports governing bodies—are not a limiting factor, selecting a venue in Saudi Arabia has proven to be more challenging than anticipated.

Reports indicate that the expenses in Saudi Arabia are significantly higher than those in Dubai, where the last auction took place in December 2023.

Why was London considered but dismissed?

The BCCI initially considered London as a potential site for the auction; however, concerns about the chilly weather during this time of year led them to discard this option.

Currently, the focus is on finding a venue capable of hosting the two-day event, which will accommodate the extensive IPL entourage, including representatives from all ten franchises and two major broadcasters, Jio and Disney Star.
