he rules specified how many players can a team retain, what will be the purse, what are the rules for the overseas players etc.

Each team has been allowed a maximum of six retentions, which include 5 capped and 1 uncapped player.
While the auction is scheduled to be held later this year, the franchises have to decide who they want to retain within a specified date.
When is the deadline for the franchises to submit their retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction?
The last date for the 10 IPL franchises to submit the lists of direct retentions is October 31, 2024, by 17.00 hours/ 05.00 pm (Indian Standard Time).

The teams can decide how many players they want to retain but cannot retain more than six players, of which 1 should be an uncapped player.
Following the submission of the list of retained players, the auction, according to Cricbuzz, will most likely take place in the third or the fourth week of the month of November and the venue could be in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
However, the official word/announcement regarding the date of the auction is awaited.
