The Houston Rockets entered the 1993-94 season seeking their first NBA Championship.

Reaching the NBA Finals twice previously, the Rockets had fallen at the last hurdle, but with Hakeem Olajuwon leading the charge, they were able to reach Game 7 in 1994.

While Olajuwon was doing the damage on the court, 2020 NBA Hall of Fame class member, Rudy Tomjanovich was manning the sidelines.

Olajuwon would produce a dominant showing to tally 25 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in a 90-84 win against the New York Knicks.

The win was not only the first NBA title for Houston, but the first major professional sports title for the city all together.

Watch the game:

Hakeem averaged 26.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.9 blocks per game in The Finals on his way to winning the Finals MVP award. The Finals MVP was added to his MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honours in 1993-94, making his the first to take the trifecta in one season.

"If you write a book, you can't write it any better. It has been a great season for us, and I'm just so happy to bring a championship to this city, Houston. It means a lot," Olajuwon said postgame.

Vernon Maxwell added 21 points for the Rockets, while Derek Harper had 26 for the Knicks in the loss.
