John Wall's first season with the Houston Rockets will reportedly come to an end with 11 games remaining.
According to a report from The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Rockets have decided to shut down the 30-year-old point guard, who has been dealing with a hamstring issue.

Wall, who joined Houston via an offseason trade, has appeared in 40 games in his first season as a Rocket. The five-time All-Star finishes the season with averages of 20.6 points, 6.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds in just over 32 minutes per contest.
While Wall has shown some flashes of his old form this season, it has been a rough year for the Rockets, who, at 15-46, are owners of the NBA's worst record and have been mathematically eliminated from qualifying for postseason play, ending an eight-year streak of consecutive playoff appearances.
As noted by Charania, a Rockets team that is working to build for the future can now explore lineups with Wall out for the last three weeks of the regular season. Wall will presumably be a part of the franchise's future plans as he is owed north of $90 million over the next two seasons, with a $47.4 million player option in the 2022-23 NBA season.
