Houston Rockets break NBA record with 26 made 3-pointers in win over Washington Wizards image

The Houston Rockets have been rolling as of late.

On Wednesday, they used an NBA-record 26 made 3-pointers to defeat the Washington Wizards 136-118 for their fifth consecutive win.

They knocked down 26 of their 55 3-point attempts, good for 47.3 percent in the victory. Their 55 tries from long range were the most the Rockets have attempted in a game all season long.

The team's record amount of 3-pointers came from James Harden (6 3PM), Chris Paul (5), Eric Gordon (4), Gerald Green (4), PJ Tucker (3), Danuel House Jr. (2), Michael Carter-Williams (1) and Gary Clark (1).

They broke the Cleveland Cavaliers record set in March of 2017, when they converted 25 of their 46 attempts from beyond the arc (54.3 percent).

The Rockets had one of the more disappointing starts to the season but behind the play of reigning MVP James Harden, they are trending in the right direction — and quickly. Harden scored 35 points to go along with nine assists, three rebounds and two steals against the Wizards, converting six of his 11 attempts from long range.

Over their five-game win streak, Harden is averaging 38.6 points, 7.8 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals while shooting  51.8 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range.

One of the more interesting stats during this streak is how often he is getting to the free throw line. Prior to this five game win streak, Harden was shooting 9.5 free throw attempts per game, the lowest average of his career since the 2013-14 season.

Through the past five games, Harden is 58-for-64 from the charity stripe (90.6 percent), averaging 12.8 free throw attempts per game. This stretch of games has increased his number of free throw attempts per game on the season to 10.2, right on par with his career average of 10.1.

Harden has been making teams pay from all three levels of the offensive side of the floor and the Rockets' five-straight wins are reflective of that, standing at 16-14 and back in the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
