Aditi Ashok finished joint T2 (tied second) at the LA Championship 2023 golf tournament at the Wilshire Country Club in California on Sunday. It is the best performance in an LPGA tour by an Indian.
The ace golfer has been in scintillating form since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she missed out on a bronze medal by a whisker. In California, she made a flying start to the tournament with a five-under in the first round.
She further built on her momentum with a one-under in the second to make her first cut of this season.

However, she struggled to maintain the momentum on Saturday, at one-over par in the third round, which saw her slide down the rankings. But the Indian made a roaring comeback at the 17th hole with a four-under, belting out five birdies and a solitary bogey to finish in the pole position along with Australia’s Hannah Green and China’s Xiyu Lin at nine-under overall.
However, in the playoffs, she could not get the better of Green and was eliminated on the first hole.
What did Aditi Ashok say about her performance?
“I think overall it’s a good week. I’ve never played in this position on the LPGA, to be near the lead on the first day and stay there the whole tournament,” Aditi Ashok told the LPGA website.
“The competition is just so deep out here. Ten people have a good tournament but only one can win. I’m happy with the way I played.”
Her previous individual best performance was the T3 finish at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational Golf in 2021.
Ashok is currently leading the charts in the LET Order of Merit after winning the Kenya Open, which was her first win in the Ladies European Tournament (LET) in five years.
