After a bruising run of three successive defeats in all competitions, Manchester United travel to Burnley in pursuit of arresting a worrying slide in form.

The Red Devils' dreadful run has included losses in three of their past four Premier League games, conceding at least twice each time, and a 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich to open their Champions League campaign.

Burnley took their first point in their fourth top-flight match of the season last time out, leading at Nottingham Forest until Callum Hudson-Odoi's equaliser with 29 minutes remaining denied them victory in a 1-1 draw.

The Clarets have won one of their past 15 Premier League games against Manchester United — a 2-0 away victory in January 2020 — and lost nine of those matches, but they may sense there has never been a better opportunity to improve their record after their opponents conceded four at Bayern on Wednesday and three at home to Brighton & Hove Albion four days earlier.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch it across the world, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Burnley vs Man United lineups, team news

Forward Michael Obafemi and defender Hjalmar Ekdal are long-term injuree absentees for Burnley, but Anass Zaroury returned from the bench at Forest.

Aaron Ramsey started against Man United following an injury issue, having remained an unused substitute at the City Ground. Zeki Amdouni was alone up front in the absence of the suspended Lyle Foster, who was suspended for a straight red card.

Connor Roberts started in defence on his 28th birthday.

Burnley lineup (4-2-3-1): Trafford (GK) – Roberts, Beyer, Al Dakhil, Taylor – Cullen, Brownhill – Gudmundsson, Ramsey, Koleosho – Amdouni

United boss Erik ten Hag's injury list continued to grow, with defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire ruled out of the 4-3 defeat at Bayern in United's Champions League opener and Lisandro Martinez reportedly missing this fixture due to continued pain in his foot. None of the three featured in his squad against Burnley.

Alongside a host of injuries, Jadon Sancho is not currently involved with the United first team due to a disciplinary issue, with Antony taking a leave of absence to contest allegations of domestic violence in Brazil, which he strongly denies.

Raphael Varane and Mason Mount returned to training a day before the defeat to Bayern, with the France international on the bench at Turf Moor. Kobbie Mainoo and Sofyan Amrabat had been working individually and were not ready to return.

Facundo Pellistri was handed his full Champions League debut on the right wing, with Scott McTominay only a substitute – Ten Hag left Pellistri on the bench but started Hannibal, as well as introducing Jonny Evans in defence.

Man United lineup (4-3-1-2): Onana (GK) – Dalot, Evans, Lindelof, Reguilon – Hannibal, Casemiro, McTominay – Fernandes – Rashford, Hojlund

Burnley vs Man United prediction, odds

United are unbeaten in seven matches at Burnley and have won five of those games, so this could certainly be interpreted as a forgiving fixture less than 72 hours after the depleted squad's return from Germany.

Vincent Kompany's side, however, will be determined to end their run of five successive home defeats across two spells in the Premier League, and last season's Championship winners should be well placed to give their out-of-form opponents another testing evening.

Prediction: Burnley 2-2 Man United
