Reigning World Cup champions Argentina are looking to continue parading their FIFA title around the globe as they take on Indonesia in a friendly from Jakarta on Monday.
Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria will not take part in the match, but plenty of other Argentine superstars will see the field as the World Cup champions continue their victory tour.
Argentina do not have a single competitive fixture scheduled until September when 2026 World Cup qualifying begins across South America, so this summer's international break was used to continue to celebrate the 2022 triumph overseas. They topped Australia 2-0 on Thursday, with Messi scoring the earliest goal of his career just 72 seconds into the match.
Now, given rest, Messi will sit out in favour of rising young stars Alejandro Garnacho and Julian Alvarez, who are likely to take the field against Indonesia, the 146th-ranked team in the world.

Argentina vs Indonesia lineups, team news
Unfortunately for fans in Jakarta, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi will not be involved for this match, as head coach Lionel Scaloni has given the Albiceleste talisman some well-deserved time off before his anticipated move to Inter Miami.
Joining Messi on the sidelines for rest will be fellow veterans Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi. This means a pair of exciting young stars in Julian Alvarez and Alejandro Garnacho will likely be deployed in place of Messi and Di Maria, and it's expected that a significant amount of the team that saw action against Australia back on Thursday will be rotated.
Goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martinez could be replaced by Geronimo Rulli, while Gio Lo Celso and Leandro Paredes will be brought into midfield.
Argentina projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Rulli (GK) — Molina, Balerdi, Pezzella, Acuna — Palacios, Paredes, Lo Celso — Garnacho, Alvarez, N. Gonzalez.
Most of the Indonesian national team play their club ball domestically, as expected, but there are still a decent number of European exports on the roster. Most notably, centre-back Elkan Baggot, still just 20 years old, has 15 caps already for the national team, having spent the last season on loan from English side Ipswich Town at League Two club Gillingham.
There are also a pair of youngsters just breaking into the national team after spending last season at Dutch clubs. Midfielder Ivar Jenner, just 18 years old, is contracted to FC Utrecht, while 20-year-old striker Rafael Struick plays for ADO Den Haag.
Furthermore, two young players have established themselves as national team regulars while playing club ball in larger Asian countries. Defender Asnawi Mangkualam, who has 30 caps already at the age of 23, links up from Korean second tier side Jeonnam Dragons, while 21-year-old left-back Pratama Arhan also has 30 caps while playing with Japanese second-tier club Tokyo Verdy.
Indonesia projected starting lineup (4-4-2): Trisna (GK) — Mangkualam, Ridho, Baggott, Arhan — Yan. Sayuri, Kambuaya, Klok, Ferdinan — Drajad, Sulistyawan.
Argentina vs Indonesia betting odds
The gap between these teams is vast, and that is reflected in the odds as Argentina are overwhelming favourites, so much to the point where the spread (handicap) is ballooned to 3.5 goals and the goals total is inflated all the way up to 4.5 goals solely on Argentina's attacking potency.
Indonesia have just one win in their last five matches across all competitions, having fallen to Vietnam 2-0 in January, so it's highly unlikely they will have the strength to compete with the reigning World Cup champions.
