Expect a fiery clash when Wales and England meet on the final matchday of Group B, in a game that will decide which of these sides makes it to the knockout stages at the 2022 World Cup.

As things stand, that's very likely to be England, as Wales need to win against the odds here and overturn a goal differential deficit in the process.

At as high as +700 (7/1) to win this match, the bookmakers clearly don't fancy Wales. That's down to the fact that they've now lost six straight games vs their British counterparts, which also won't do much to heighten the mood amongst their fanbase following their poor 2-0 loss to Iran last time out.

Wales vs England odds

The bookmakers have England as the strong favourites to win this matchup.

Having reached the semifinals of the World Cup in 2018 and the final of Euro 2020, it would take a brave person to bet against them qualifying from Group B this time around.

That said, as we know in football, rivalry matches can always throw up surprises. And given the fact that Wales have to win to progress, their odds could offer some value to those who like to predict an upset.

Wales vs England: 3 things to know

Wales vs England team news

Wales head coach Rob Page will be forced to tweak his side as they look to go for a historic win against England. Danny Ward will replace the suspended Wayne Hennessey in goal, with both Daniel James and Joe Allen potentially set to come into the starting 11.

For England, boss Gareth Southgate may also look to tweak his team following their poor performance in their 0-0 draw with the USA. Kyle Walker, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden are all thought to be in contention to start in their final Group B outing.

Wales vs England prediction

  • Moneyline lean: England to win (-250)
  • Against the spread lean: England -1.5 (+110)
  • Score prediction: Wales 0-3 England

When you consider both sides' results against Iran in this tournament, it shouldn't be too difficult to understand why we're backing England to record a comprehensive victory here.

Their 6-2 thumping of Iran on matchday one highlighted their fluid attacking capabilities, and even though they blanked against the USA, expect them to return to their free-scoring ways.

Gareth Southgate was content with a draw last time out to make it highly likely that his side will progress from Group B as a result.

A more conservative set-up therefore won't be needed against Wales, plus the additional option to hit their opposition on the counter-attack will likely see them get on the scoresheet multiple times.

Wales vs England: best bet

  • Pick: Wales over 2.5 cards
  • Odds: +170 (FanDuel)

Wales against England is always a feisty affair, let alone when there's qualification from a World Cup group at stake.

With Wayne Hennessey's dismissal vs Iran, Wales are the only side to receive a red card so far in Qatar, and they've also picked up three yellow cards across their two outings to date.

Expect more of the same here bookings-wise when they face a skillful English side. With Wales needing to go for the win.

The last meeting between these two sides also saw Wales pick up three bookings in a 3-0 friendly loss at Wembley, so we feel there's a pretty sizeable chance that this bet comes in.

Wales vs England flier bet

  • Pick: Harry Maguire to score anytime
  • Odds: +800 (BetMGM)

Now, this seems like a bit of a stretch perhaps on first glance, but there's method in the madness.

England have arguably been the strongest attacking team across the last three major tournaments, with defensive pair Harry Maguire and John Stones regularly causing absolute mayhem in the opposition's box, especially from corners.

In this match, the Three Lions are likely to win a few corners and so far, Maguire has hit the crosbar vs Iran and registered a header on target vs the USA.

He's shown that he can go one further previously, with seven goals to his name through 50 caps for England. Two of those have come at major tournaments and a third here wouldn't be a surprise at all.
