When is Celtic vs Rangers? Fixtures, scores for Old Firm Derby games in 2023/24

Derbies don't get much bigger than the fiery Scottish clash of Rangers vs Celtic.

Otherwise known as the Old Firm Derby, this match has been played since the 1890s with the two Glasgow clubs never failing to deliver fireworks on and off the pitch when they meet.

While Celtic and Rangers do have geography in common, they have been polar opposites in nearly every other regard over the years, creating a fan rivalry renowned around the world.

The Old Firm Derby is always highly anticipated, not just in Scotland, but also across the globe, with match ups well worth circling on football calendars.

When is next Rangers vs Celtic game? 

The fixtures for the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season have been confirmed including three Old Firm matchups in league action.

The structure of the Scottish Premiership campaign means the two Glasgow rivals will face off three times in the first phase of the season with the likelihood of one further league match when the league splits in the second half of the season.

Rangers vs Celtic in 2022/23 

The Old Firm Derby produced six clashes last season, including four in Scottish Premiership action, plus the Scottish League Cup final and the Scottish Cup semifinal.

Outgoing Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou signed off from Parkhead with a domestic treble with four wins out of six against their arch rivals in 2022/23.

The popular Australian coach opted to end his time at Celtic at the start of June to take over at Premier League giants Tottenham, with former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers replacing him in Glasgow.

Rangers vs Celtic history 

This age-old rivalry was born in the late 19th century and has been played regularly ever since. 

Their first competitive meeting saw Celtic beat Rangers 6-1, but overall results since slightly favour the Gers. 

The Hoops do, however, hold the record for the biggest win in this fixture, when they thumped Rangers 7-1 in 1957 in a League Cup match.

Rangers, Celtic trophies won 

Just like their head-to-head record, Rangers also boast a slight edge when it comes to silverware won.

The Gers have won the the Scottish first division/Premiership and League Cup more times than Celtic, but the Hoops have lifted the Scottish Cup on more occasions. 

Celtic have notably closed the trophy gap considerably over the past decade with their 2022/23 treble glory tightening the gap to just one trophy.
