What was to be the first 'Old Firm' Derby set to take place outside Scotland has been cancelled after Rangers pulled out of the Sydney Super Cup.
The friendly tournament which was due to begin on November 16 was set to involve Rangers, Celtic, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Rangers and Celtic have one of world football's most celebrated and fierce rivalries.
After the tournament was announced, fans of both Glasgow giants voiced their concerns over the rivalry being used as a marketing ploy and facing their neighbours in what would essentially be a pre-season "friendly."
On Friday, Rangers confirmed they would no longer be participating, citing failures on the part of organisers.
"Rangers can confirm the Club will not be participating in the Sydney Super Cup in November 2022," a club statement read.
"After it became clear the tournament organisers were unwilling to fulfil their commitments to Rangers, we have, with immediate effect, terminated the Club’s agreement with the organisers."

Various reports in Scotland say Rangers have based their decision on disagreements over the branding and whether the term 'Old Firm' would be used in marketing.
Tournament organisers are yet to comment or confirm whether the event will go ahead without the Ibrox club.
Rangers fans had last month caused several disruptions in a match against Dundee as they continued to protest against their involvement in the Sydney Super Cup.
Club officials have previously stated the significant commercial benefits of participating in the friendly tournament during the World Cup break but the fan backlash continued.
Rangers currently sit three points behind Ange Postecoglou's Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership.
