Mohun Bagan reclaimed the bragging rights of the Kolkata derby as they beat arch-rivals East Bengal 1-0 on Sunday to claim the Durand Cup 2023 title.
Australian forward Dimitri Petratos scored the winner in the 71st minute to seal a historic trophy for the Green and Maroons.

They are now the most successful team in Durand Cup history winning the competition a record 17 times.

Juan Ferrando's side were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Anirudh Thapa was sent off after a double booking for a high-boot challenge on East Bengal's Javier Siverio.
But despite being a man down, Bagan fought valiantly and eventually scored the winner to win the Durand Cup after a gap of 23 years.

How many Durand Cup titles have Mohun Bagan won?
Mohun Bagan went past East Bengal's tally to become the most successful team in the tournament's history winning it 17 times. Before Sunday's final, the Kolkata giants were tied on 16 trophies.
Other than the two Kolkata clubs, Border Security Force have won the title seven times and JCT have won on five occasions.
The only other ISL clubs who have won the Durand Cup title are FC Goa in 2021 and Bengaluru FC in 2022.
