Two clubs with high energy and leaky defences meet at Anfield as Liverpool and Fulham both gun for a top-half finish.

The Reds are eyeing an outside look at the Premier League's top four, but have a lot of work to do if they wish to catch Manchester United, who sit fourth with a seven-point advantage and a game in hand. Jurgen Klopp has already ruled out a Champions League place, and while he's likely right, the Reds will still hope for a slip from the Red Devils which they could capitalise on.

They'll need to get by a Fulham side who frustrated the Reds at Craven Cottage way back in August en route to a 2-2 draw. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a brace in that match, but the Whites will need to find other goal scoring avenues with the Serbian still serving his long ban for pushing a referee in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Fulham have frustrated a number of top teams, including Manchester City last time out, but have yet to secure a win against any of the current top five in the standings. They saw two critical players in Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira go down with unfortunate long-term injuries in that Man City game, and the Whites are limping to the finish line at the end of a mostly promising season.

Liverpool vs Fulham prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Liverpool (-375)
  • Handicap lean: Liverpool -1.5 (-150)
  • Score prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Fulham

Liverpool have displayed absolutely fantastic will to survive through 2023, battered in multiple outings but able to squeeze out victories on most occasions. That was on full display last time out against Tottenham when they capitulated a 3-0 lead, only to win it at the death just seconds after Spurs found a dramatic equaliser.

They should be able to breach the Fulham defence which allowed chances en masse all season long. While it's a lot to expect Liverpool to keep a clean sheet, they can easily outscore this Whites attack which is missing both its main chance creator in Andreas Pereira and its main finisher in Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Still, given Liverpool's vulnerability at the back, the odds seem abnormally skewed in Liverpool's favour, with Fulham certainly capable of snatching a result like they did earlier in the campaign, at least more capable than the odds would have you believe. There could be value in a punt on Fulham double chance.

    Liverpool vs Fulham: best bet

    • Pick: Both teams to score — YES
    • Odds: -120 (BetMGM)

These two defences have put their goalkeepers under immense pressure this season, and both have mostly risen to the occasion. Bernd Leno of Fulham and Alisson of Liverpool have the highest differential between expected goals on target faced and goals conceded, with each man performing above expectations.

While that will surely be a badge of honour for both shot stoppers, it is also a terrible indictment of both back lines, which are conceding quality chances to the opposition in bunches. The betting market for some reason thinks Fulham can't score, but the Whites have only been held off the scoresheet twice in six league matches since Mitrovic's suspension kicked in. They should manage at least a goal here against a similarly porous and mistake-prone Liverpool back line.

    Liverpool vs Fulham prop bet

    • Pick: Over 10.5 total shots on target
    • Odds: +125 (FanDuel)

Here's where the Fulham defence struggles: while they don't give up a ton of shots, just 435 this season, dead middle of the Premier League and 130 behind "leaders" Bournemouth, they give up a mountain of quality chances — they have conceded 174 shots on target, fourth-most and just 11 behind "leaders" Brentford, and their 0.13 xGA per shot faced is second only to...Liverpool at 0.14.

With that in mind, the total shots prop in this match is set at about 27.5, which is a very high bar to reach. Steer clear of that, but where you can play is the shots on target marker, which is also high, but more doable. The goalkeepers will be tested in this match, as they both have all season long.
