Two teams hoping to salvage a lost domestic campaign with cup silverware are set to do battle as Juventus host Inter Milan at the Allianz Stadium in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal.

These two clubs are long off the Serie A title race for various reasons, and while they're both still alive in European competition, this is their last chance at domestic hardware this season.

Juventus are currently out of the European places in the Italian top flight due to a 15-point penalty deduction, but their good form has seen them shoot back up the table and into contention for a top seven spot. Furthermore, they've already knocked out two Serie A sides in this cup competition, beating Monza and Lazio both by a one-goal margin in the earlier Coppa Italia rounds.

Inter, meanwhile, are in freefall, having failed to win three league games in a row and four of their last five. They can't seem to buy a goal at the moment, and with a crucial Champions League meeting with Benfica ahead, they know they need to find their form before next week.

The Sporting News football betting expert Kyle Bonn shares his best bets, props, and high risk/high return fliers for some of the biggest matches in the sport each week. Since the start of 2023, his best bets have hit 52.6% of the time, while his overall selections have generated a profit of over 48 units thus far. Juventus vs Inter prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Juventus (+130)
  • Against the spread lean (handicap): Juventus -0.5 (+120)
  • Score prediction: Juventus 2-0 Inter

Given the form these two teams are in, it's already hard to pick against Juventus. But when you look even further, it becomes even more clear who should come out ahead.

Juventus have not only won 11 of their last 13 matches across all competitions, but they're doing so with unprecedented defensive structure, conceding just six goals in that span. Additionally, they topped Inter in shutout fashion in league play just two weeks ago.

On the flip side, Inter are in horrid goalscoring form, and that could play right into Juve's strengths.

    Juventus vs Inter best bet

    • Pick: Juventus to win to nil
    • Odds: +250 (BetMGM)

While both sides will be looking at this match as a chance to push towards silverware in a season otherwise defined by domestic disappointment, there's one side that arguably has greater motivation in that regard.

Juventus, thanks to the aforementioned 15-point deduction, are nowhere near the scudetto race, and have already dropped out of the Champions League. Their Europa League prospects remain intact, but that doesn't nearly ring the same.

Meanwhile, Inter also know they are totally out of contention for the league title, but their Champions League hopes remain alive and that is where their likely focus will remain.

Inter have been abysmal in front of net in recent games, with just three goals to show for their last four league games despite putting up 9.77 expected goals. Romelu Lukaku has been the main culprit, while Edin Dzeko hasn't scored since January 4. Even the once-hot Lautaro Martinez has lost his flame with just three league goals since the start of February.

While you can get Inter under 0.5 total goals at +150, it's worth the extra boost to back Juve to find one themselves.

    Juventus vs Inter prop bet

    • Pick: Filip Kostic to score or assist
    • Odds: +210 (FanDuel)

While backing anyone to contribute goals in this game is risky, Serbian wide man Filip Kostic is a great pick, and the odds are too good to look past.

Kostic scored the game's lone goal the last time these two teams played, and he is on fire with five goal contributions in his last eight matches for club and country. The 30-year-old leads Juventus in assists and expected assists this season, and despite the fact that Dusan Vlahovic is misfiring in front of net, Juventus have a number of other players that combine well.

    Juventus vs Inter prop bet

    • Pick: Lautaro Martinez to be booked
    • Odds: +360 (FanDuel)

The booking odds in this match are unbelievably skewed and the chief reason is referee Davide Massa, who is known for being incredibly card-happy. Despite having officiated the most Serie A games of any Italian referee this season, Massa leads them all in yellows per game, and is third among full-time officials in fouls per tackle.

Knowing this, we have to find creative ways to get good odds in this market, and we've found one here. Somehow, Lautaro Martinez has picked up only two yellow cards in Serie A play this season. "Somehow" because he leads Inter in fouls conceded with 41, six more than anyone else, despite losing his consistent starting spot.

How do we know the two yellow cards in Serie A is a fluke? He also has two yellow cards in just eight Champions League games, plus another two in three domestic Cup matches.

If Lautaro returns to the starting lineup for this match, which he should, he could see his luck run out with a card-happy official in charge. With excellent odds, the Argentine is a great selection to enter the book in a game that's already expected to be full of cautions.
