Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac has named a 22-member squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2022 which will be held between September 19 to October 7 in Hangzhou, China.
Stimac has named three overage players -- Sunil Chhetri, Sandesh Jhingan and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu -- in the U23 squad that will participate in the Asian Games.

India have been placed in Group A in the competition alongside hosts China, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
This will be the first time since 2014 that the Indian men's football team will participate in the Asian Games. In 2014, they were ousted from the group stage after losing to UAE and Jordan.

Other than the three overage players, several members of the senior team have made it to the Asian Games squad.
Players like Anwar Ali, Akash Mishra, Jeakson Singh and Rahim Ali have been in the 22-man squad while East Bengal's Lalchungnunga has been rewarded for his consistent performance in the ISL 2022/23 season.
