Inter will gun for the first of their two major trophies up for grabs as they meet Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.

Victories over Parma, Atalanta, and Juventus have seen Inter into the domestic Cup final, as Federico Dimarco's second leg winner downed the Old Lady in the semifinals to book their place in this match. Inter also have the Champions League final against Manchester City on the horizon as well, having dumped rivals AC Milan out of the competition in famous fashion.

Resting a number of players in Serie A action over the weekend, Inter were well beaten by confirmed champions Napoli 3-1, with Lautaro Martinez, Marcelo Brozovic, Edin Dzeko, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Federico Dimarco all starting the match on the bench.

Fiorentina have had a disappointing league showing this season, sitting 11th in the Serie A table and drawing with Torino over the weekend. They enjoyed a soft path to the Cup final, handling Sampdoria, Torino, and Cremonese en route to Stadio Olimpico.

Fiorentina vs Inter prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Inter (+100)
  • Score prediction: Fiorentina 0-2 Inter

Fiorentina have had an absolutely wacky season. They've beaten up on the bad teams and fallen short against the top teams, but the games have been extremely odd, with the best team on the day often not coming out victorious.

Still, the end result has been struggles against the best teams in the league. In 13 matches against the current top seven teams in Serie A this year, Fiorentina have just two wins, four draws, and seven defeats, conceding 19 goals (on 21.51 xGA) against 10 scored (on 16.48 xG).

Plus, here's a kicker: since 2000, Inter has won the Coppa Italia five times. The previous four all came in groups of two — they won in 2004/05 and defended that title the next year, and then won the tournament in 2009/10 and successfully defended it the following season. As 2021/22 defending Coppa Italia champions, the pattern is there to be repeated. It's hard to see Fiorentina getting a result against an Inter team whose top players are in very good form.

    Fiorentina vs Inter: best bet

    • Pick: Both teams to score — NO
    • Odds: -110 (BetMGM)

Fiorentina haven't had massive issues scoring this season, but they've come up against a buzzsaw often against top teams, shut out in six occasions across 13 matches against the top seven clubs in the Italian top flight.

What's more, their top goal scorer Arthur Cabral has scored just twice in his last eight league games, while Nicolas Gonzalez has two in his last 13 league appearances (although he did hit for two against Basel in European play). While other role players have picked up the slack somewhat, they will need their main threats on their game to have a chance against a defensively stout Inter side.

    Fiorentina vs Inter prop bet

    • Pick: Scoreless first half
    • Odds: +165 (BetMGM)

On the same path as before, goals should be at a premium in this match, and it could be extra cagey in the first half.

Two of the last three matches between these teams have seen no goals before the break, and both of these sides played to a scoreless first half in league play over the weekend.

In fact, these two teams have seen a combined three goals in the first half of their last three games, with 16 scored after halftime. Both teams are very prone to keeping things locked up until the first 45 minutes is up.
