Everton vs Arsenal prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for Premier League match at Goodison Park image

Arsenal look to tackle a personal House of Horrors as they travel to Goodison Park for a matchup against Everton in Premier League play on Sunday.

The Gunners have had a terrible time in this venue of late, beaten in each of their last three trips and without a win since 2017, a run of five straight matches in which they've scored just twice.

If Arsenal, on 10 points through their first four matches of the season, wish to keep pace with Manchester City, they will need to secure the maximum return from this game against a Toffees side once again fighting for their lives at the opposite end of the table.

Indeed, Everton are once again drawn into the relegation vortex early on, having narrowly survived the drop each of the last two seasons. With just one point through their opening four games, coming last time out against fellow relegation candidates Sheffield United, they will hope to exploit their inexplicable home field advantage to extract points from an unlikely source.

Everton vs Arsenal prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Arsenal (-190)
  • Score prediction: Everton 1-2 Arsenal

The incredible run of poor form for Arsenal at Goodison Park is hard to believe, but wonky streaks aside, the Gunners are clearly the better side in this match. They don't like to make it easy on themselves on many occasions, but have managed to survive thus far.

Declan Rice's incredible performances for club and country are a massive boost in this game, and he papers over a lot of other deficits in the Arsenal midfield. There are too many players in the Arsenal squad who are amidst positive runs of form — while the opposite is true for Everton — to be worried about any bad juju in this venue.

    Everton vs Arsenal best bet

    • Pick: Under 2.5 total goals
    • Odds: +120 (BetMGM)

Everton are the worst finishing team in the Premier League, and it's not remotely close. Through their first three matches of the season, Everton failed to score a single goal despite creating 5.21 xG worth of chances. Finally, they opened their account with a pair against Sheffield United, but even that haul required 2.74 xG.

There isn't a single player in the Everton squad — not one — who is outperforming their xG thus far through four games. Finishing matters, especially with a quality goalkeeper like Aaron Ramsdale in the opposing net, and Everton just do not have players capable of putting away chances.

Meanwhile, on the other end, while we're largely dismissing the mystical powers Goodison Park seem to have over Arsenal of late, there's still something to be said about their poor run of form at this ground. The Gunners should be able to find enough positive moments to come away with the win, but having scored just twice in their last five trips here, it likely won't end in an onslaught, unless they decide to make up for lost time.

    Everton vs Arsenal prop bet

    • Pick: Arnaut Danjuma 3+ shots
    • Odds: +110 (FanDuel)

Sure, Everton can't finish, but that doesn't mean they won't try to score. The Toffees struggle to put away chances, but they have done well to rack up opportunities, and Arnaut Danjuma has been on the end of a lot of them.

Danjuma's 14 shots this season rank him tied for fourth with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mohamed Salah, and Martin Odegaard. While Everton's finishing has largely let them down, they've also been done in by great goalkeeping, with Danjuma's numbers reflecting exactly that — his efforts have been worth 2.68 xGOT, but he has just one goal to show for it.

Still, regardless of whether Aaron Ramsdale can keep them out, Danjuma will certainly be on the end of a few opportunities.

    Everton vs Arsenal prop bet

    • Pick: Fabio Vieira to score or assist a goal
    • Odds: +130 (FanDuel)

We have reached the point early in the season that Fabio Vieira has done enough to earn a start, especially following the international break where a number of regular starters may be requiring rest after long travel. Vieira has been excellent in just 42 minutes of action off the bench, while individuals like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli continue to struggle.

For a guy who has logged less than one half of Premier League minutes this season, it's shocking how tempered these odds are, but the fact remains that Mikel Arteta will surely be tempted to give Vieira a chance to shine from the start. If he is indeed in the lineup, there's real value to his ability to create chances in front of goal for himself and his teammates.
