Arsenal need a get-right opportunity in the worst way, and a match against struggling Chelsea could be just what the doctor ordered as the Gunners host the Blues at the Emirates in a London derby on Tuesday.

After a heavy 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, Arsenal are now second-favourites in the Premier League title race despite leading the standings for much of the season. With their room for error completely evaporated, Arsenal know they must essentially win out to have any hope of stealing back the crown.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been utterly pitiful under manager Frank Lampard, devoid of creativity or execution while mired in a six-match league winless run. The Blues have scored just a single goal across their last five games, and have been generally underperforming in front of goal for the last three months overall.

Both these teams need a win in the worst way to stop their recent skid, but only one can come out on top, while the other will emerge from the 90 minutes with still more questions to answer.

The Sporting News football betting expert Kyle Bonn shares his best bets, props, and high risk/high return fliers for some of the biggest matches in the sport each week. Since the start of 2023, his best bets have hit 53.5% of the time, while his overall selections have generated a profit of over 21 units thus far. He has also correctly predicted 49 of 101 match outcomes via his three-way moneyline leans to date.

Arsenal vs Chelsea prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Arsenal (-150)
  • Handicap lean (spread): Arsenal -0.5 (-165)
  • Score prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

Until Chelsea show an ability to score, they will always be unreliable in matches like this. Sure, Arsenal have defensively regressed in the absence of William Saliba, but against a Blues side that just cannot find ways to put the ball in the net, the Gunners could see a bounce-back.

Arsenal have not lost back-to-back Premier League matches this season, and they should find a way through here.

    Arsenal vs Chelsea best bet

    • Pick: Over 2.5 total goals
    • Odds: -115 (BetMGM)

Between Arsenal's great goalscoring prowess and their defensive slump, this match should find a way to hit the over. It might be hard to lean on Chelsea for help here, but Arsenal have the capability to hit this over on their own, and given William Saliba's continued absence from the squad, the Blues may still find a way to chip in.

Arsenal's last nine Premier League matches have all hit the over, and in six of those games, the Gunners crossed the threshold on their own. Take advantage of the muted odds here which come thanks to Chelsea's struggles in front of net.

    Arsenal vs Chelsea prop bet

    • Pick: Leandro Trossard to assist a goal
    • Odds: +250 (FanDuel)

There's a reason the Arsenal attack has been stunted somewhat in recent weeks, and it's thanks to the baffling exclusion of Leandro Trossard. Calls from Arsenal supporters to return Trossard to the starting lineup should be finally heeded here, and it should pay dividends.

Trossard, inexplicably, hasn't started since the win over Leeds — coincidentally, the last time Arsenal won. In his last five starts, Trossard delivered an incredible 3.42 expected assists, with his teammates cashing in a whopping seven times.

Wait for the starting lineup to be announced before placing this bet, but if Mikel Arteta does indeed restore Trossard's starting role in this squad, it will be to the Gunners' great benefit.
