Ange Postecoglou's former club South Melbourne is set to throw their doors open to all Celtic supporters in celebration of the Scottish club's impending league title win.

With only two matchdays in the Scottish Premiership remaining, Celtic have a six-point lead and 20 goal difference advantage over city rivals Rangers, with the blue side of Glasgow facing a near-impossible task to reel in the Hoops.

Celtic could officially wrap up the title with a win or a draw against Dundee United (May 12, 4.30am AEST), earning Postecoglou the Scottish Premiership in his first season in charge - his second trophy after clinching the Scottish League Cup in December.

South Melbourne, who Postecoglou won titles with as both a coach and player, will give fans wearing any Celtic apparel free entrance for Friday night's NPL clash against Avondale - with the Bhoys likely to have wrapped up the title by then.

It's been a stunning first season in charge of Celtic for Postecoglou, who was only given the job on a one-year rolling contract in June 2021 -  a month prior to their European Champions League qualifier.

After Celtic crashed out the Champions League in the second qualifying round and lost three of their first six league games, it appeared like Postecoglou was struggling to get the team suited to his attacking style of play.

But incredibly, Celtic haven't lost in the league since September 19, as the team has gone 30 games unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership, with an extraordinary 25 wins and five draws.

Postecoglou, who was named Scottish Football Writers’ Association manager of the year this week, spoke about the process of getting Celtic back to the top in Scotland.

“We’ve had a few good weekends, we’ve been pretty consistent over a while and the players have been outstanding in their commitment to playing our football,” Postecoglou said.

“Everyone committed to something and we’ve had a few bumps along the road, but the whole staff and players embraced every challenge and stuck to the beliefs we have in the football club we want to be.

“You have to have belief in yourself in what you’re about to embark on, but it’s not just about believing in something, you have to work hard for it and we’ve worked awfully hard.”
