Al Nassr eased into the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League as Cristiano Ronaldo scored again in a 2-0 Round of 16 second-leg win over Al Feiha.
Ronaldo got the only goal of the game in the first fixture a week ago and, having helped his team to a 2-1 Saudi Pro League victory last weekend, he was right to feel full of confidence heading into this contest in Riyadh.
His all-round performance was far from outstanding, though, as the 39-year-old's touch too often let him down when played into promising positions by the likes of the excellent Marcelo Brozovic.
Al Nassr vs Al Feiha final score
Fulltime (Agg. score) | Goalscorers | |
Al Nassr | 2 (3) | Otavio (16'), Ronaldo (86') |
Al Feiha | 0 (0) |
Confirmed lineups:
Al Nassr (4-2-3-1, right to left): Abdullah (GK) — Al Amri, Lajami (Boushal, 90') , Laporte, Behic — Al Khaibari, Brozovic (Al Hassan, 90') — Yahya (Al Najei, 76'), Otavio (Al Sulaiheem, 75'), Mane (Al Aliwa, 90') — Ronaldo.
Al Feiha (4-3-3 right to left): Stojkovic (GK) — Al Rashidi, Al Baqawi, Al Shuwaish, Al Khalaf— Al Safri (Al Qaydhi, 68'), R. Kaabi (Majrashi, 89'), Al Harthi — Sakala (Al Rammah, 88'), Nwakaeme (Mandash, 30'), Onyekuru (K. Kaabi, 88').
It was Ronaldo's compatriot Otavio who opened the scoring in the first half with a clever header from Abdullah Al Khaibari's raking pass — one that went through the legs of goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic far too easily.

Fashion Sakala blasted a thunderous shut narrowly wide, but Al Feiha's attacking threat was limited throughout and they rarely looked like getting a goal.
The same could be said of Ronaldo, who clipped the outside of the post with a header late in the first half and saw an offside flag deny him when he finally found the net after a clever side-step of the goalkeeper. When Sadio Mane slid him a pass that came off Ronaldo's heel and went the other way, you began to assume it just wasn't his night.
However, after a senior career spanning more than 21 years, we should know better than to write off the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. With four minutes of normal time left, a relieved Ronaldo finally got his third goal in as many competitive games in 2024: Brozovic's latest ball over the top of the defence was badly judged by the onrushing Stojkovic, and Ronaldo was left with a simple finish.
Al Nassr, bidding for their first AFC Champions League title, will now face Al Ain in the quarterfinals. As long as Ronaldo keeps scoring, their fans will keep dreaming.

Al Nassr vs Al Feiha live updates and commentary
Fulltime: Al Nassr 2-0 Al Feiha
That's that! Al Nassr go through to the quarterfinals after tonight's 2-0 win seals a 3-0 aggregate victory.
90 mins: We'll have four minutes of added time, although this tie is very much done already.
86 mins: GOAL! RONALDO SCORES AT LAST! It's yet another simple ball over the top from Brozovic, and as Stojkovic rushes off his line to sweep up, he makes a mess of it and misses the ball. Ronaldo is left with a simple finish into the unguarded net. A VAR check for offside allows the goal to stand.
85 mins: What a miss from Mane! He's through on goal but his casual side-foot finish bobbles wide of the left-hand post. The offside flag is then raised, but replays show he may well have been level.
82 mins: Mane gets shoved from behind and wins a free-kick, around 30 yards from goal, near the angle of the penalty area. Brozovic takes... and it's a simple catch for Stojkovic. There was also a foul given against Al Nassr in the middle of all that.
78 mins: A couple of changes made by Castro as Al Nassr continue to ease through these closing stages. If Al Feiha are going to pull off a comeback, they need to get on the attack, and soon.
71 mins: Behic finds Mane, who finds Ronaldo... who leaves the ball behind. Oops.
66 mins: Mane's been pretty quiet, but that was nearly an explosive contribution — a quick change of direction in the box to lose his marker and a fierce left-foot shot that flew over the bar.
58 mins: Abdullah races of his line to intercept a long ball that Sakala was sprinting to meet. That was sprightly goalkeeping from the 37-year-old.
53 mins: Ronaldo denied again! The angle is tight and Stojkovic is able to stick out a foot and keep out the shot. Brozovic once again sliced apart the defence with the throughball.
47 mins: RONALDO SCORES — but the flag is up! Brozovic's throughball is superbly weighted, Ronaldo runs through on goal, skips expertly around Stojkovic and slots home the finish, but he was offside by the width of one lean shoulder.
Kickoff: Second half
Can Al Feiha get back into this tie?

That's that for the half. Al Nassr are on their way through as things stand.

Otavio’s goal keeps Al Fayha at bay, with the away side not managing to threaten much.

45 + 1 min: In the first of four added minutes, Ronaldo is booked after catching Osama Al Khalaf on the ankle as the defender slipped. Both he and Luis Castro are really not happy. He needs to be careful here.
45 mins: FASHION SAKALA! Al Feiha's most dangerous man in the first leg cuts in off the left and lets fly with a powerful shot that had Abdullah worried. What a goal that could've been!
42 mins: A rousing thunderclap from the home fans is followed by some loud singing. They're enjoying this.
37 mins: RONALDO HITS THE POST! He meets Brozovic's teasing delivery from a free-kick, but he has to stretch for the header and can't quite steer it properly on target. That was unlucky.
34 mins: Al Nassr are being tidy with the ball and look very, very comfortable. Brozovic, as ever, is the heartbeat of everything they're doing.
29 mins: There's a lengthy stoppage in play as Anthony Nwakaeme evidently can't continue. He goes off to be replaced by Sultan Mandash.
20 mins: Mane picks out Ronaldo with a cross, but he can't control the ball. He would have been offside anyway. It's not really been Ronaldo's night so far.

16 mins: GOAL! Al Nassr take a deserved lead! It's a clever finish from Otavio, but it's not one goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic will want to watch back. Abdullah Al Khaibari, who's been excellent so far, clips a precise pass over the top of the defence and Otavio glances a header through the legs of the keeper from six yards out.
11 mins: Two nearly moments for Al Nassr as Otavio and Ronaldo can't quite link up in the penalty area. The home side are completely on top at the moment, but Al Feiha are defending well.
7 mins: If the first leg was a little quiet in the (largely empty) stands, the atmosphere in Riyadh is anything but. It's a pretty full crowd tonight, and the sizeable cheering section is in full voice.
3 mins: Ronaldo suddenly has space in behind the defence and races away onto Marcelo Brozovic's pass. He loses his footing in the penalty area, though, just as the goal loomed... but the offside flag is then raised anyway.
Kickoff: First half
We're underway!
15 mins prior to kickoff: Somehow, I feel like Sadio Mane chilling in the background watching this game unfold isn't a bad idea — especially since he'll be on the pitch in a quarter of an hour.
