FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019: Scores and highlights from Day 4 image

Day 4 of the FIBA World Cup Group Stage did not disappoint with three games coming down to the final possession.

Six more teams booked their place to the Second Round of the tournament, as Australia, Dominican Republic, Lithuania, Brazil, USA and France all earned valuable wins. They join Poland, Argentina, Russia, Spain, Serbia and Italy as 12 of the 16 teams that will advance to the Second Round.

If you missed any of the action, we have you covered below with scores and highlights from each contest!

Australia 81, Senegal 68

Patty Mills' game-high 22 points helped Australia improve to 2-0 on the World Cup, but Joe Ingles put on a stat sheet-stuffing clinic.

Ingles finished one assist shy of a triple-double, doing a little bit of everything for the Boomers. The Utah Jazz forward finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead Australia to victory.

Xane Dalmeida was Senegal's leading scorer with 14 points but as a team, they couldn't overcome shooting 38% from the field.

New Zealand 93, Montenegro 83

Corey Webster torched Nikola Vucevic's Montenegro squad, dropping 25 points on an efficient 7-for-12 clip from the field while doing the majority of his damage from beyond the arc shooting 6-for-8.

His help came from forward Isaac Fotu, who scored 20 points to go with seven boards. For Montenegro, Vucevic finished with 15 points and nine rebounds and Nikola Ivanovic went for 18 points and seven assists.

New Zealand (1-1) now controls their own destiny with a massive game versus Greece (1-1) approaching.

Czech Republic 89, Japan 76

Czech Republic bounced back from a tough opening loss to the United States by taking it to Japan.

Chicago Bulls guard Tomas Satoransky had another solid game of 15 points, seven assists and six boards, but it was the prolific scoring of Blake Schilb and Jaromir Bohacik who had 22 points apiece to lead Czech to victory.

Schilb was lights-out from 3-point range going 6-for-7 while Bohacik knocked down four 3-balls himself.

Washington Wizards rookie forward Rui Hachimura continued to fill it up, scoring 22 points despite his squad falling to 0-2.

Czech Republic (1-1) will face off against Turkey (1-1) in a contest where the winner advances to the Second Round.

Dominican Republic 70, Germany 68

Dominican Republic stunned Germany behind 17 points from Victor Liz and 16 points from Eloy Vargas.

Germany had a look to win the game at the buzzer but great defence from Dominican Republic forced a miss to earn the win.

This was more than just any other victory – the win knocks Germany out of contention for advancing to the Second Round while D.R. will now move on.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder did all he could to help keep his team alive with 20 points and seven assists. Boston Celtics forward Daniel Theis also played his part, scoring 12 points with eight boards.

Lithuania 92, Canada 69

Lithuania's frontcourt proved to be too much for Canada to handle, eliminating their chances to advance to the Second Round.

Memphis Grizzlies centre Jonas Valanciunas led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds with a team-best plus-15 plus/minus. Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis had 10 points, eight rebounds and also dished out four assists.

Lithuania out-rebounded Canada 46-27 and their 19 offensive rebounds created a number of extra opportunities that contributed to the lopsided result.

For Canada, Kyle Wiltjer dropped a game-high 24 points and Cory Joseph scored 15 points but they couldn't overcome Lithuania's bigs.

Brazil 79, Greece 78

In one of the best games of Day 4, Brazil edged Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece at the buzzer.

Greece tied the game at 76 with 35 seconds to play but Anderson Varejao stepped up huge for Brazil with a go-ahead bucket with 14 seconds remaining. Brazil forced a turnover and Leandrinho Barbosa went to the free throw line with a chance to seal the game. He went 1-for-2 from the stripe, leaving the door open for Greece who trailed 79-76 with four seconds on the clock.

Greece's Kostas Sloukas was fouled on the game-tying 3-point attempt, made the first two free throw attempts, and then this happened:

Memphis Grizzlies forward Bruno Caboclo's heads-up play earned Brazil the win, solidifying a spot in the Second Round of the World Cup.

Varejao was outstanding for Brazil with 22 points and nine rebounds. Antetokounmpo was held to just 13 points on seven shot attempts, only taking one shot in the final quarter.

After the win, Brazil's head coach Aleksandar Petrovic had some choice words for his team's defence on the NBA's reigning MVP, stating, "I've know for six months how to stop Giannis; (Alex) Garcia kicked his a––."

United States 93, Turkey 92 (OT)

In the other best game of Day 4, Turkey had United States against the ropes with a chance to deliver a knockout punch and failed to do so.

It took overtime – in extremely dramatic fashion – but Team USA prevailed to improve to 2-0 and secure a spot in the Second Round of the World Cup.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova gave Turkey a two-point lead on a tip-in with 12 seconds to play in regulation. On the ensuing possession, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum was fouled on a 3-point attempt as time expired to give USA a chance to win in regulation. Tatum went 2-for-3 from the line, forcing overtime.

Turkey led by five points with under three minutes to play in OT when Kemba Walker rattled off five-straight points for USA to tie the game. Turkey gained a slim one-point lead with under 10 seconds to go and a chance to seal the game but missed four consecutive free throws, the final free throw leading to a fast break opportunity for the U.S.

Khris Middleton was fouled on the break and buried both free throws, closing out the win for the US.

Middleton's 15 points were a team-best for the United States. Walker's 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds played a key role in the win. Ilyasova was a monster for Turkey scoring 23 points to go with 14 rebounds.

Next up for Turkey, a win or go home contest against the Czech Republic.

France 103, Jordan 64

France routed Jordan to secure a spot in the Second Round of the World Cup.

Nando De Colo's 19 points were a team-high but France had five players in double figures and all but one player on the roster scored. Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert dominated throughout the game's entirety with 16 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. New York Knicks guard Frank Ntilikina also had a solid showing with 12 points, five boards, five assists and three steals.

Group G's two undefeated teams, France and Dominican Republic, will go head-to-head next to decide who wins the group.
