NBA scores and highlights: George scores 37 points as Thunder finish strong against Lakers image

With nine games on the slate Thursday there was no shortage of action from around the league.

With the Lakers fans booing Paul George, the OKC star responded witha dominant 37-point display to lead the Thunder to a big win on the road.

George shot 15-of-29 from the field, while Russell Westbrook's shooting struggles re-emerged as he connected on just 3-of-20 from the field. Despite his struggles, he still posted a triple-double with 14 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the Lakers with 25 points, while Brandon Ingram recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks 122 Charlotte Hornets 84

Dallas got out to a 42-26 lead after one quarter and never really looked back. The young backcourt of Dennis Smith Jr. and Luka Doncic each finished the night with 18 points apiece and the Mavericks held the Hornets to 35.6 percent shooting from the field and 18.8 percent shooting from deep on the night

Miami Heat 117 Cleveland Cavaliers 92

Led by 24 points from Josh Richardson, the Heat advanced to 18-18 on the season with a 25-point road win over the Cavs. In his first game of the 2018-19 season, Heat guard Dion Waiters finished with seven points in 10 minutes against his former team.

Thanks to big scoring nights from Bradley Beal (24 points) and Jeff Green (22 points) and a monster double-double from Thomas Bryant (16 points, 15 rebounds), the Wizards (15-23) won their second straight game as they held the Hawks (11-26) to just 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Atlanta's young big man duo of John Collins and Alex Len impressed, with Colins recording 21 points and eight rebounds, while Len exploded for 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks off the bench.

Brooklyn Nets 126 New Orleans Pelicans 121

Pelicans All-Star centre Anthony Davis finished the night with 34 points, 26 rebounds, four assists and three blocks but it wasn't enough as the Nets used a balanced scoring attack to earn a five-point win. D'Angelo Russell led Brooklyn with 22 points and 13 assists as he was one of seven Nets players to finish in double-figure scoring.

Orlando assisted on 31 of its 44 made field goals and shot 57.9 percent from the field as it cruised past Chicago to move to 16-20 on the season. The Magic were led by a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double from Nikola Vucevic and an impressive 18-point, nine-assist, seven-rebound performance from Aaron Gordon.

Blake Griffin finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals as the Pistons (17-19) grinded out a seven-point road win over the Grizzlies (18-19).

Joel Embiid tied his season high with 42 points adding 18 rebounds, for his 33rd double-double of the season, while Aussie Ben Simmons, set a new season high of his own with 29 point, six assists and three rebounds, doing most of the damage at the free throw line, hitting 15-of-23.

Simmons continued his aggressive play of late, with Phoenix opting for a bit of 'hack-a-Ben' sending him to the free throw line, but he made them pay.
