Luka Doncic takes home the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year award, capping off a remarkable freshman campaign in the NBA.

The 20-year-old set the NBA alight from the beginning of the season, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 33-49 record.

The Slovenian averaged 21.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists, beating out Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young, who averaged 19.1 points, 8.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds for the 29-53 Hawks and the Phoenix Suns' Deandre Ayton.

Doncic joins Jason Kidd as the only Mavericks to win Rookie of the Year. Kidd won the award in a tie with Grant Hill in the 1994/95 season.

Here's how the voting went down for the ROY award.

He recorded eight triple-doubles in 2018/19, the third most by a rookie, behind Oscar Robertson's 26 and Ben Simmons' 12.

Doncic also broke Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson's record for the most triple-doubles (seven) by a player before his 21st birthday.
