Zaka Ashraf was elected as PCB Chief only in July 2023. The Pakistan Cricket Board will undergo a series of changes post the World Cup. Inzamam Ul-Haq has already stepped down as Chief Selector recently.

Interestingly, former cricketer Shahid Afridi, who was repoted to be one of the names under consideration to replace Ashraf, met the PCB chairman on Friday.

"You know there is a tournament going on, and we will look into it at the end of the tournament. We will not act upon it (the extension or dismissal of Zaka Ashraf) at the moment. The Doctrine of Necessity does not allow us to act in the middle of the tournament," stated Kakar.

What did Shahid Afridi talk about in the meeting with Zaka Ashraf?

In an interview with Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi talked about his meeting with Zaka Ashraf. In the words of Afridi, Ashraf was impressed with his view and aims of the future of Pakistan Cricket.

Shahid spoke at length about the importance of grassroots camps for cricket. He told that there is no use if they would continue with the short-duration training camps.

It was a good meeting. We need to know how to solve the problems. We need to work on the grassroots level, with U13, U16, and U19 levels. We need to set up camps for more than just a month, to ensure development of kids, Afridi spoke to Samaa TV.

Afridi insisted on holding the training camps on a one-year duration. Afridi mentioned about local coaches and their abilities to help the country forward with the sport.

In my opinion, the coaches of 'Pakistan', who have played cricket, and are experienced, should take care of the same batch of kids throughout the year. The kids should not be swapped from coaches to coaches, expressed Afridi.
