Pakistan will face off against India at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on June 9. It is once again expected to be a blockbuster event in this calendar year, with fans from both countries expected to come in huge numbers for the World Cup co-hosted by the United States (USA) and West Indies.

Khan was the captain of the Pakistan team that ended up winning the T20 World Cup in 2009, beating Sri Lanka in the Final at the Lord's cricket ground.

What is Younis Khan's advice for Pakistan vs India in T20 World Cup 2024?

Speaking on PTV Sports, the former Pakistan cricketer Younis Khan was asked by the host Erin Holland about what he would do if he was the captain of the Pakistan team in the T20 World Cup 2024.

This was Khan's advice to the Babar Azam-led team:

"The answer is quite simple. They [Pakistan team] have to go with a fresh mindset and not worry [about pressure] that this is a India-Pakistan game."

Khan stressed that the key mindset change should be to always keep a positive body language regardless of the events during the toss or on the field. He added that it was the method teams in the past used, including his 2009 World Cup winning team, with success.

"The players should go with this mindset. You go to the toss - win or lose, you should not worry. It is all about your body language - make sure that it should be good. This is how we used to do [in the past]."

He added that he hopes that this New York pitch will produce run fest at the marquee clash.

However, the Nassau County Stadium pitch had come under fire from Team India, who played their only T20 World Cup warm-up match, against Bangladesh, at the venue. India coach Rahul Dravid called the wicket 'spongy'.

In the first T20 World Cup match held at the stadium, South Africa skittled out Sri Lanka for 77 runs in 19.1 overs. They chased down the target in 16.2 overs.

When is the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 clash?

Pakistan will play their first match in the T20 World Cup 2024 against the hosts USA on June 6 at Dallas, followed by the game against India at Nassau County International cricket stadium, New York on June 9.

The game is scheduled to start at 8 PM IST, with the toss expected to take place at 7:30 PM IST.
