Following Hardik Pandya's appointment as Mumbai Indians' captain ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the franchise and the player have copped a lot of criticism.

Mumbai Indians management decided to replace Rohit Sharma - their five-time IPL winning captain. The ones at the helm, chose to give the role to someone, who they thought knows the team and background well - Pandya after all had first shot to fame as an MI player.

Pandya's Mumbai Indians is set to play at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, for the first time this season on Monday. The Mumbai franchise has had a sluggish start to their campaign, with two losses in their first two games. 

Ahead of their return to Mumbai, the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) has cleared air over crowd control.

Will Wankhede security take action against fans booing Hardik Pandya? 

There have been rumours going around, regarding a firm and strict security measures at the Wankhede ahead of MI's first home game. The five-time winners have played at Ahmedabad and Hyderabad so far this season.

Pandya will play his first home game as MI skipper on Monday, when the Mumbai team hosts Rajasthan Royals. Given that the former Gujarat Titans skipper has been the object of criticism and ridicule, in the real and the social media world, there were doubts over whether the security will be tighetend for Sunday's game against RR.

MCA explained how they, as a Cricket Association, were only following the guidelines formulated by the BCCI, upon fan behaviour.

When will Mumbai Indians play their first home game of IPL 2024? 

Mumbai Indians will face on the in-form, inaugural champions in Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, with the game scheduled for a 7:30pm start.
