Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played their final game of the league phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in their defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, May 14, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, or Chepauk as it is more commonly known.
In the final over, with the two balls to go, MS Dhoni came in to bat and received a tremendous reception from the Chepauk crowd as they knew that this was probably the last time they would see their most-loved player bat this season.
Chepauk, and CSK fans in general, are famous for the way they treat their players. And the respect and love they show for MSD is second to none. Every time Dhoni walks in to bat, the decibel levels inside the ground are through the roof. It's as if the CSK fans witness God. Well, for them, MSD is not less than a God.
At the end of the game, MSD was seen greeting the crowd by throwing tennis balls since this was perhaps CSK's last game at Chepauk this season. Maybe even Dhoni's last-ever game here if he hangs up his boots.

CSK are in second position in the IPL standings with 15 points. They have one game to win and are in a comfortable position to qualify for the playoffs.
With both the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator set to take place at Chepauk, MS Dhoni and Co. will return to their fortress if they do manage to seal their playoff spot, which they'll do so if they win their final game against Delhi Capitals (DC).
