Will Indian players feature in overseas leagues? Latest updates as BCCI delay taking a definite call image

The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI)'s Apex Council was unable to come to a decision regarding retired players' participation in international T20 tournaments and instead delegated the decision to office-bearers.

The BCCI is concerned about the issue as more and more players are opting to play in international T20 competitions. According to media reports, currently a retired Indian cricketer would need to wait one year before being able to play in these competitions.

Even though they are retired players, the BCCI has chosen to control the player exodus. The BCCI is likely to make it mandatory for players to obtian a NOC (No Objection Certificate).

BCCI set to introduce policy to prevent pre-determined retirement trends

The board will release a policy to stop the habit of pre-determined retirements, according to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

"We'll (the office-bearers) come out with a policy to prevent the trend of pre-determined retirement. It will be sent to the Apex Council for the approval before the policy is implemented," Jay Shah stated.

Have any Indian players featured in overseas leagues?

Both Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa, who played white-ball cricket for India in the past, participated in the ILT20 that was played earlier this year in the UAE.

Starting on July 20, the Pathan brothers Yusuf and Irfan, fast bowler S Sreesanth, all-rounder Stuart Binny, and wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel will compete in the Zim Afro T10 competition.

In the US, Ambati Rayudu will play in the latest edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC). He had previously stated that he will leave the IPL after the 2023 final, and he would now represent Texas Super Kings in the MLC.
