Mickey Arthur and Andrew Puttick put in their papers from their respective posts at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore after Grant Bradburn's tenure concluded with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

All three experienced a reshuffling of their roles following Pakistan's performance in the ICC event and were eventually shown the door.

Arthur assumed the position of director of the Pakistan men's team in April 2023, while Bradburn and Puttick were designated as head coach and batting coach, respectively.

The trio communicated their decision to resign from their respective positions to the PCB, with the departure set for the end of January 2024.

Following Pakistan's failure to reach the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup, their future was up in the air. PCB's temporary management committee lacked the authority to relieve them of their duties. Consequently, their roles were reassigned to the national cricket academy, and none accompanied the team on the recent Test tour of Australia.

During the tour, Mohammad Hafeez served as both team director and head coach, with Adam Hollioake appointed as the batting coach.

Arthur will maintain his role as Derbyshire's head coach, while Bradburn secured a three-year contract as the head coach for Glamorgan. Puttick will rejoin the Afghanistan national team as their batting coach.

'What is the exact role of Mickey Arthur?' - Akram questioned

After Pakistan lost to India in the World Cup group stages in Ahmedabad, Arthur made a bizarre claim that he couldn't hear enough 'Dil Dil Pakistan' in Ahmedabad and went on to slam ICC calling the Cricket World Cup a 'BCCI event'.

Pakistan legend Wasim Akram had called him out on that occasion and warned "That's what we want to hear, not this random stuff. You can't get away from this.”

And, after a disappointing World Cup campaign, where the team finished fifth in the points table with just four wins in nine matches, Akram once again slammed him.

"What is the Director of Pakistan cricket? Is he the director of the cricket team or is he the director of Pakistan cricket? Someone please explain," he asked .

"I have been saying this for years and even decades. If you like a foreign coach, you can appoint him.  But it's a job and he is being paid handsomely. Like in every corporate job, you have fixed holidays. But here, after the tour ends, he just leaves and before the next tour, he rejoins. He is making everyone a fool."
