Afghanistan ended England's Champions Trophy campaign with a fantastic 8-run win while defending 325 runs in Lahore.
Ibrahim Zadran scored a massive 177(146) to record the highest score in the competition's history.
As Afghanistan now stands a chance to progress to the semi-final, a lot of eyes have gone towards Afghanistan mentor, Younis Khan who is also the former Pakistan skipper.
Rashid Latif has also revealed the reason why the former captain is not mentoring the hosts over Afghanistan.
Why is Younis Khan mentoring Afghanistan over Pakistan?
The former wicketkeeper, Rashid Latif said that Younis was offered to join the Pakistan side but decided to go for the other offer from Afghanistan to have financial benefits.
"Younis Khan said no to Pakistan cricket to work with Afghanistan. There will be no financial benefits here," Latif revealed.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board executive, Naseeb Khan also spoke about the appointment of Younis for the tournament.
"Since the Champions Trophy is being held in Pakistan, it was required to assign a talented and experienced player as a mentor from the hosting country. We already had efficient experience with hosting countries' mentors in ODI World Cup 2023 and T20I World Cup 2024," Naseeb Khan said.
They had previously also appointed Ajay Jadeja for the 2023 World Cup in India and Dwayne Bravo for the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies where they went to the semi-final of the tournament.
