Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has announced his exit from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) just ten days after joining on December 28.

Rayudu's decision was communicated through his social media account on X (formerly Twitter), where he expressed the intent to step away from politics for a temporary period. The cricketer thanked everyone for their support and mentioned that further actions would be disclosed in due course.

"This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You," wrote Rayudu.

Rayudu's induction into the YSRCP was marked by a closed ceremony at the Chief Minister's Camp office, attended by key figures including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy CM Narayana Swamy, and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy. Visuals of the welcome event were shared on the YSR Congress Party's social media account on X.

The abrupt departure coincides with the YSRCP's restructuring of in-charges for Assembly and parliamentary constituencies ahead of the upcoming elections.

In December 2023, the party announced changes in 11 constituencies based on the performance of incumbent MLAs, primarily in the Guntur district. Another list with 27 names was revealed on January 2, with these constituency in-charges expected to contest from their respective segments.

Before joining the YSRCP, Rayudu actively participated in party programs, including his appointment as a brand ambassador for the Adudam Andhra state sports festival. Additionally, he engaged in outreach programs for the Kapu community in Guntur district, highlighting his involvement in the party's activities.

Rayudu had disclosed his political aspirations earlier in 2023 during his tour of rural areas in Guntur. He expressed his commitment to serving the people of Andhra Pradesh, indicating that he would formulate a concrete action plan for his political journey and decide on the appropriate platform.

“I shall soon enter politics in Andhra Pradesh to serve the people. Before that, I have decided to visit different parts of the district to know the people’s pulse and understand their problems," Rayudu had said in June 2023.

"I shall come out with a concrete action plan on how to go about in politics and which platform I would choose,” he added.
