In a significant development, Afghanistan will host Bangladesh for a white-ball series in Greater Noida this July-August. This series marks Afghanistan's return to playing 'home' matches in India after a gap of four years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved Afghanistan to use Indian venues for their home games. This decision comes after Afghanistan, now under Taliban rule, sought to continue playing international cricket despite political changes.

Where will Afghanistan play their 'home' matches in India?

Afghanistan will use the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida as their home ground. This venue was last used by Afghanistan in March 2020. The upcoming series against Bangladesh will involve three ODIs and three T20Is from July 25 to August 6.

The BCCI has allotted two home venues to Afghanistan: Greater Noida and Kanpur. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the BCCI had signed a memorandum of understanding in December 2015, allowing Afghanistan to use the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex as their home ground. Over the years, Afghanistan has also played their 'home' matches in Dehradun, the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, and Greater Noida.
