Rohit Sharma led Team India to a handsome victory over Ireland in New York on Wednesday. In what could have been a tricky run chase, Rohit held his nerve to sail India to victory in their inaugural encounter in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The Indian skipper scored a half-century at an average pitch in New York, before getting retired hurt due to minor discomfort. Sharma's 37-ball 52 not only steered India to a win, but also had him go past the 4000-run mark in T20 Internationals.
The 36-year-old joins Indian team-mate Virat Kohli and Pakistan talisman Babar Azam as the only batsmen to cross the statistical milestone in the shortest format.
