Sachin Dhas hit a match-winning knock on the big stage in the U19 World Cup semi-final against South Africa on Tuesday. As India was found begging in the run-chase at 32-4 in under 12 overs, Dhas played a matured innings to help India chase down a total of 245 runs in the end.

Sachin Dhas came in and along with Uday Sarahan and changed the fate of the game. Indians faced hosts South Africa in the semi-final. Despite the home advantage, the young Proteas bowed out of the tournament, courtesy of a match-winning knock from Dhas.

Who is Sachin Dhas?

Sachin Dhas hails from Beed, Maharashtra. Born to a family of athletes, Dhas was destined to be a sportsman, even before birth! His father Sanjay Dhas revealed how he had decided his son's career even before he breathed his first.

Sachin Dhas entered into bat when India was 32/4 in under 12 overs. Dhas changed the fate of the game, scoring a 95-ball 96. Unfortunately, a century wasn't meant to be, as Dhas fell four runs short. However, the 19-year-old kept the scoreboard ticking, despite being under pressure. 

Dhas hit eleven fours and one six, and ensured that India came back in a pole position going into the final stages of the run chase.

Sachin Dhas scored match-winning knocks for the India U19s, against Nepal and South Africa. Dhas has now performed at the zenith in consecutive games, after not facing more than 20 deliveries in a match, his whole life.

Dhas is now the third-highest run-scorer in the ongoing U19 World Cup. He has scored near about 300 runs in just six innings, averaging above 70.
